Sustained Investigation 2

For my second Sustained Investigation Project I decided to continue my question "What if Kobe Bryant went to college". This time I wanted to show his success that he would have had in college, which is winning a national championship. For my first step I began removing the Laker logo and number off of the jersey. Then I changed the color of the jersey to match Duke's colors.
In this step I began searching for good replacement logos and numbers for the jersey. Then pasted them on the jersey after cleaning up the edges from the previous jersey they were on.
Here I started focusing more on the background and how I could incorporate a different design compared to my last project. I went with a white brick wall, which will be utilized later in the process, with confetti in the back to represent winning the championship.
In this step I began brainstorming more ideas about the brick wall situation. I was having trouble figuring out what to do because I felt like the wall was too bland to be the main focus of the background. The pictures that I have shown were images that I originally was going to incorporate into the background of my work.
In my final steps I decided to only use the Blue Devil logo because it was hard to use the trophy in the background with Kobe taking up so much of the image already. I went with the graffiti type look to make it seem like it was part of the wall originally. Then I went through and added some vignette on the wall side. Also applied some white brush stokes on the confetti part to try make it stand out more than the rest. I feel like this image represents my message clearly especially with the emotion giving off by Kobe as if he just won a big game.
